“Vastadu naa Raju” is a movie, which will not appeal to the fans of Manchu Vishnu as well. The movie’s story and screenplay is like a hard boulder hitting the audience’s heads and the movie has nothing to entertain the audiences. It may appear strange or pathetic to discuss the movie’s fate in these first lines of review. But factually, VNR is a totally faltu and dabba movie (in true sense) where no one will dare to watch for the second time, atleast as a TV channel premiere.
Note- ‘Vastadu Naa Raju’ cannot be compared to Dhee in any aspect.

Story

Venky (Vishnu) is a son of the couple, which are characters played by Tanikella Bharani and Tulasi. They lead a middle class life and have a coffee as their earning source. Vishnu is interested in kick boxing and puts his studies on a back burner.

Narasimha ( Prakash Raj) has a sister named Pooja( Taapsee) and he is a local goon, who has full factors to get him a MLA seat. He is a follower of home minister ( sayaji), who’s son is Babu( ajay) is interested in marrying Pooja. When the alliance is about to be made, narasimha sees venky and Pooja seated on a bench on a tank bund.
He mistakes that Pooja has a lover, while the truth is that Venky and pooja are strangers and are waiting for their friends respectively.
Venky’s parents discover this and they treat Pooja as their daughter in law. Narasimha is angry on his sister’s love story and he takes out his fumes on her and asks her to marry Babu. Pooja is shocked to hear the whole story and she tries to commit suicide and she is rescued by venky as usual.
Venky takes pooja to her residence and while on his way, Narasimha spots them and thinks that they are eloping. Narasimha shoots a bullet at venky and venky gets it pierced with the bullet in his heart. Narasimha starts to torture venky’s parents and now venky wants to take his revenge.
He kidnaps Pooja and hides her in the residence of Rajesh (Brahmi) and Rajesh is the PA of Home minister. Rajesh has a love story with Anjali ( Surekha vani) and so Anjali manages to get Rajesh appointed as a PA to her home minister husband.
After some reel flow, Narasimha realizes his mistake and so venky hands over his sister Pooja to him and by now, venky and Pooja fall in real love.
Then enters the villain Babu who wants to marry pooja at any cost and what happens is the suspense filled climax, which has to be seen on the silver screen.

Performances

Performances wise, Vishnu has given his best to the movie and so have the other actors. Anything more than this saying, will be driving you minds to a sense that, we have been bribed to say so.

On the first aspect, the movie lacks a proper storyline and is irritating to watch as the story line is a routine milkshake with stale jokes, tiring scenes, songs and dull action sequences.

The movie has nothing innovative to offer to the sleeping audiences in the theatre and within the first 20 minutes, the audiences can go to sleep, with no one to wake up till the interval.
And if you are in a thinking to get a respite, when you sit back for the second half, then you are total mistaken. The movie will evaporated the stuff like cola and pop corns you ate in the interval and will drive you out of your mind within few minutes of the second half.
Coming to the music, it would have been better, if Manchu Vishnu and party would have hired a band baaja party for the movie. Atleast the dho maar and teen maar tunes are entertaining than the music which is offered in ‘Vastadu naa Raju’.
Taapsee Pannu has nothing to offer than to say about her three wishes. She desired to have her teddy bear in hand, wants to write her so called exams and going to the temple on Friday’s every week. She has only her naval to be offered to the crowds.
Director Hemanth Madhukar has made the movie into a damp squib and there are no words to explain more. The movie looks as if, hemanth was sleeping all the time and a lame spot boy has directed the movie.

Finally, ‘Vastadu naa Raju’ is not a worth watching movie and it would have been better if this Raju (Vishnu) did not come to the theatres. The only person, will appreciate this movie is Dr. Mohan Babu, as he thinks that he is the only perfect person on earth and he has given birth to gems like Laxmi Prasanna, Vishnu and Manoj from his first and second wife respectively.
On the pleasant note, one must thank Mohan Babu for providing bread and butter to the directors, crew and the media people through his nonsense filled films of his children.
